2009 Volunteer Recognition
CASA of Franklin County recognized their volunteers at the annual CASA/GAL Volunteer Recognition event on Tuesday, March 24 at the Franklin Park Conservatory in Columbus.
Approximately 200 CASA volunteers, board, staff, donors, family and friends gathered in the Conservatory Atrium for a sit-down dinner catered by Weiland’s Gourmet Market. The meal was topped off with cookies donated in part from the Suisse Shop. CASA extends its thanks to the Conservatory for the beautiful setting, to Weiland’s Gourmet Food Market for their delicious food, and the Suisse Shop for the desserts.
All guests were invited to tour the Conservatory’s exhibition space, including the always popular Blooms & Butterflies exhibit.
The night was filled with awards given in recognition of exemplary service by our amazingly dedicated and hard working CASA volunteers. Dozens of the agency’s volunteers received baseball-themed prizes and trinkets for their years of service and in categories such as “Rookies of the Year” and “Extra Mile” and “Special Circumstances” awards. The winners of our “Commitment to CASA” awards went to Carol Boster, Donna Bowers, Linda Chlapaty, Kris Close, Cynthia Frey, Karen Jones, Linda Norris for outstanding service last year. In addition, Sharon Given received the “Heart of CASA” award this year for going above and beyond in 2008, and CASA awarded the Franklin County Commissioners the “Speak up for CASA” award for paving the way for CASA to advocate for 736 abused and neglected children in 2008.
Thanks to all of our wonderful volunteers, board-members, staff, donors, family and friends for your attendance and support of CASA!
