EVENT INFORMATION AND HISTORY

Beginning in 2001, CASA of Franklin County has annually hosted a “Speak Up For Children” Breakfast.  This fundraising event is an introduction to Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Franklin County.  The one-hour event begins sharply at 7:30 a.m. and ends by 8:30 a.m. in order for people to make it to work. The breakfast event is aimed at connecting new individuals to CASA and re-motivating current contributors and volunteers.  Attendees hear stories and learn more about CASA of Franklin County.  While the event is free, attendees are asked to consider making a commitment to CASA, either by making a multiple-year pledge/donation or by becoming a CASA volunteer.

The event has been held at the following locations:  Nationwide in 2001, The Ohio Statehouse Atrium in 2002, The Hartman Building Ballroom in 2003, and at COSI since 2004.

All proceeds from the event benefit CASA of Franklin County and support the program's mission to serve abused and neglected children.  Each year the event has grown and generated increased resources for CASA.  In 2001, 170 guests attended and the event raised $33,000 for the year and $120,000 in total five-year pledges.  In 2005, over 450 people attended and the event raised over $140,000 in donations and pledges.  The event has resulted in a total of $625,000 since 2001 pledged through 2009!

YEAR-LONG PARTICIPATION
