MISSION   CASA of Franklin County is a non-profit organization that recruits, screens, trains and supports community volunteers to advocate for the best interests of abused and neglected children involved in court proceedings.

HISTORY   In Seattle in 1977, Juvenile Judge David Soukup was losing sleep over abuse and neglect cases.  Every day he made life changing placement decisions about children he knew very little about.  He never felt confident he had the entire story, and was terrified of what might happen when he made the “wrong” decision.  Out of this concern grew the idea for CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates).  CASA of Franklin County was founded in 1992 and has since grown steadily.  Today, children in all 50 states are served by trained CASA volunteers.  To find out more about CASA , click on our FAQ link.

HOW TO HELP    More than 100,000 cases of child abuse and neglect are reported annually in Ohio.  Every evening we turn on the local news to another sad story.  The immediate response is often to shut out the information because it’s too sad or too emotional, or because there just doesn’t seem to be anything a normal citizen can do to help.  But there is.  To learn how you can help by becoming involved with CASA click on our VOLUNTEERS or DONATIONS link.

CASA is approved by the Better Business Bureau of Central Ohio.  Click here for info.
